This is a short description of the purpose of the website, it includes some background information about me and what I hope to get out of the Public Leaders Scholars program.

Statement of Purpose

I grew up close to Annapolis, MD in a historic town. I spent four years playing soccer and lacrosse at a state championship-winning school that also allowed me to take specialized courses for engineering and leadership. If you have seen the home page, you will know that engineering was not my route. Leadership, on the other hand, is something I just cannot get away from. When deciding where to spend the next four years, Maryland was never an option for me. My older brother had just graduated and I did not want to follow in his big footsteps, I wanted to be my own person. Alas, the moment I stepped foot onto campus and met my Scholar's peers, I was doomed. I instantly fell in love with the feeling the campus gave me of home. I knew that with the additional benefits of not only a program, but one that preached identical values as those taught to me in high school, I would be successful. Now that I am here on campus, I can confirm that Public Leadership has given me exactly what I wanted. I have an easy conversation starter that lends itself to quickly identifying the personality of an individual. I have classes that further my understanding and compassion of a topic I already enjoy. I have friends that share similar values and concerns. I have a community that helps me when I am in need.
